Even though a majority of American women work outside the home at full-time jobs, many women say they would rather be stay-at-home moms or work only part-time. In a poll conducted by Family Education (www.familyeducation.com), women were asked if they would rather hold a full-time job, part-time job or be a stay-at-home mom, if money or quality child care were not an issue. Ninety percent of all women polled said they would choose either to be a stay-at-home mom or to hold only a part-time job. 52 percent said they would choose to be stay-at-home moms; 38% percent said they would like to hold a part-time job, while only 10 percent said they would choose a full-time career. 24,143 women participated in the poll.
